Oral Surgery
Sometimes a tooth is so badly damaged that it needs to be removed. In most cases, it is quite a simple procedure which involves some anaesthetic to numb the area being placed adjacent to the tooth, followed by the use of specialized tools to gently loosen and remove the tooth painlessly.
Occasionally, a little more work is required. If a radiograph shows that the tooth may be more difficult to remove your dentist may plan on removing a little of your jawbone to help with removing the tooth. Once the tooth is removed a few stitches may be placed to allow the area to heal quickly. Although it sounds bad, this is very rarely any more difficult for patients than a simple extraction. |
